A Night at the Cicada Club
This week’s gallery is a photo essay. It combines two of my great passions, photography and ballroom dancing. Sunday evening Lynne and I took our son and his fiancée to the Cicada Club in downtown Los Angeles. With the grandeur of a classic Hollywood musical from the thirties, The Cicada Club is a most unique experience that transports you back in time to the glamorous days of Hollywood’s golden age of nightclubs. http://www.cicadaclub.com/
You’ll see the nicest people in the nicest cars They’ve come to see the lounge, the club, the lovely bars And it’s the spot where stars come just to see the stars Meet me at the Copa, meet me at the Copa Meet me at the Copa tonight
The most amazing club in town you will admit It’s imitated quite a lot but this is it And if you wanna see where all the new acts hit Meet me at the Copa, meet me at the Copa Meet me at the Copa tonight
The home of sweet romance, It wins you at a glance, Gives happy feet a chance to dance.
We’ll meet again, don’t know where, Don’t know when, but I know we’ll meet again some sunny day.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Chester Whitmore
Let’s Dance . . .
Mr. Bass Man, you’ve got that certain somethin’ Mr. Bass Man, you set that music thumpin’
Heaven, I’m in heaven And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak And I seem to find the happiness I seek When we’re out together dancing cheek to cheek
Isn’t it romantic? Music in the night, a dream that can be heard
Isn’t it romantic? Every note that’s sung is like a lover’s kiss
Isn’t it romantic? Merely to be young on such a night as this?
The memory of this moment of love Will haunt me forever A tropical moon, a sleepy lagoon And you
Ladies and gentlemen . . . the Opus One Big Band
